Bond Dickinson cleans up with Colgate Palmolive panel place

    Hygiene giant Colgate Palmolive added Bond Dickinson to its panel just weeks before the merger between Bond Pearce and Dickinson Dees, The Lawyer has learned.Associate legal director Chris Burniston took charge of the review process in March, just months after he joined the company. Both firms pitched to the company prior to the merger with Bond Pearce fielding a team of three: employment partner Christina Tolvas-Vincent; real estate partner Alistair Walton and retail and consumer goods partner Gavin Matthews. Dickinson Dees’ pitch was led by partner Martin Poore.Bond Dickinson joins Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Slaughter & May and Cameron McKenna on the panel and will be advising on property and employment, with some marketing and pensions work.Long-term panel member Freshfields advises on big ticket strategic projects, such as new product launches while Bond Dickinson will be responsible for the ongoing product marketing.Slaughter & May are currently responsible for both trustee and company pensions work and Cameron McKenna advise on some commercial matters but is primarily responsible for Colgate’s subsidiary business, Hill’s Pet Nutrition.Bond Dickinson was added to the panel in March before the merger of the firms was formalised. The merger was voted through by partners in December 2012 (6 December 2012).
