Eversheds adds Akin Gump partner to City energy team

    Eversheds has boosted its energy capabilities in London after hiring a corporate finance partner from US firm Akin Gump Stauss Hauer & Feld.Greg Hammond, who has been a partner at Akin Gump’s London office since 2009, will start at Eversheds on Monday (25 February). Hammond specialises in advising oil and gas companies and other energy players on corporate finance transactions. He acts for governments, corporations, banks and multilateral agencies, with past clients including Lukoil, Rusal and Société Générale.He joins Eversheds as a partner and will head the firm’s international oil and gas practice. Before joining Akin Gump, Hammond was a partner at White & Case, where he had been for 10 years.In a statement, Hammond said: “Eversheds has a very clear strategic vision - in which its global energy practice features prominently. I look forward to working with the existing energy team across the 40-plus offices from which the firm operates in order to build on its success to date and develop the energy practice even further.”Akin Gump London head Steve Blakeley added: “We wish him well in his new endeavour.”In May 2012, Akin Gump boosted its London energy practice with partners John LaMaster and Marc Hammerson from defunct firm Dewey & LeBoeuf (8 May 2012).
